The Story of the Amazing Colorful Pilot Bugs In a land not that faraway lived a community of the most amazing bugs ever to set eyes on. These were not your normal run of the mill bugs, they were multicolored, vibrant pilot bugs that wore pilot caps, and goggles. You must admit it is not everyday you see bugs wearing pilot caps, and goggles, and yet here it was common place. In this unique community, there was no leader, no one in charge, and only one rule. They merely did not need any more then one, as they were happy carefree bugs, who loved to fly about. That one rule was ‘Have fun!’ should someone not be having fun the rule had been broken. Each day these bugs woke to the warmth of the sun, and frolicked at the edge of the tree line shade of the mighty oak trees. That is where their favorite food grew, the Marion berry. Now some might say the Marion berry has a complex, rich and earthy flavor that is both sweet and tart. However to these special bugs, it was a heavenly taste that allowed them to grow, and live happy lives. One warm summer day as they had finished eating their morning fill of Marion berries, a little boy and girl appeared at the berry bush. When the children saw these amazing bugs, they just had to have them. They tried effortlessly time and time again without success to catch one. As they both sat beneath the berry bush exhausted, the little girl began to cry. One of the pilot bugs realized the little girl was not happy, the rule had been broken. He flew down to her landing on her head where he danced around to cheer her up. It worked, the little girl began to laugh, and soon the little boy joined in. The children so delighted they once again tried to catch one of the bugs, however it was not possible, as they were just to fast. It was getting late by this time and the children had to go home. They said goodbye to their little friends and promised to return the next day. Years passed and the children were no longer children, and stopped coming to the berry bush. The pilot bugs missed their time with the children, and longed for them to return. One bright summer morning the bugs woke to the sound of children’s laughter. Was it their friends, had they returned? The whole community of pilot bugs flew down to the berry bushes to see if it was them. It was, only they had grown up, and now had children of their own. The bugs enjoyed the whole day flying about as the children tried desperately to capture one, the laugher rang above the trees. As the sun begin to set they all promised to return to play another day. They say if you go into the forest of the mighty oaks, just at the edge where the Marion berry grows. You can still find the pilot bugs frolicking in the morning sunlight eating their favorite food. Try to catch them if you can, only remember to follow the one rule! ‘Have Fun’
